ACU says work is essential to allow this year's races to go ahead
A section of the TT course will be closed for up to a fortnight from this morning as work to prepare the route for this year's races is carried out.
The A3 will be shut from Ballig Bridge to Cronk y Voddy for drainage work which has been described as essential to allow this year's races to go ahead.
The closure is to enable the installation of improved surface water drainage as well as roadside drainage at Creg Willey's Hill, along with resurfacing.
The work has been requested by the ACU with backing from the Department for Enterprise in a bid to reduce the risk of water seeping onto the course and posing a hazard to motorbikes travelling at racing speed.
The closure, which comes into force at 9.30am, will be in place 24 hours a day for the duration of the work, with access to properties in the area maintained from Kirk Michael and the north.
