Senior TT halted - 11 spectators taken to hospital. Race to re-start at 4.30pm.

Eleven spectators have been taken to hospital after the final race of TT 2013 was red flagged less than a lap into the event.

The race was halted when competitor number 68, Jonathan Howarth from Barnsley in South Yorkshire, crashed on Bray Hill in Douglas and his bike went into the crowd.

Mr Howarth is ok.

The 11 fans have injuries ranging from minor to serious – none are thought to be life threatening.

Manx Radio reporter David Harrison was watching at Bray Hill and described what happened:

The roads remain closed to the public but the crossing points are open.

The issue is being dealt with as a racing matter. The police are not investigating.

The PokerStars Senior TT will re-start at 4.30pm.
