
The head of the Unite union on the Island says he hopes today’s budget will fair and equitable – with financial pain shared by rich and poor alike.
Eric Holmes says despite government claims that “we’re all in this together”, poorer people have had to bear a larger burden of austerity measures.
He says he fears today’s announcements from Treasury Minister Eddie Teare will only benefit businesses.
But Mr Holmes says the economy would benefit from helping those on low or fixed incomes:
