Shielders who haven't received vaccine letter 'should talk to GP'

Concerns around vaccine invitations as some restrictions lifted

The health minister says anyone who was advised to shield during lockdown, and hasn't yet received a letter inviting them for a vaccine, should get in touch with their GP.

From today, those who're classed as extremely clinically vulnerable have been told they no longer need to stay at home.

Concerns were raised that the advice was based on the belief everyone in that  category had received a coronavirus vaccine.

David Ashford says that's not the case, and the advice was issued as the risk of contracting Covid-19 in the community is now thought to be low.

'Let's not start getting too excitable at this stage.'

With case numbers continuing to fall, the health minister says the signs are positive, but we must not get ahead of ourselves.
