400 give views on Castletown Market Square
A survey suggests the majority of Castletown residents want to see the historic square there retained as a public space.
Almost 400 people gave their views on the future of Market Square, with a third of them (35%) saying it should be turned into a car park.
Most of those who responded live in the town.
Castletown Commissioners, who ran the questionnaire, says it's now planning a wider consultation on parking, as well as the future of Barracks Square and the old Fire Station.
Chairman of the authority Colin Leather said parking was an 'essential' part of the town's priorities, but it had to be balanced with needs like shopping, tourism value and local business.
