'Significant' rise in reports of domestic abuse since lockdown

Victim Support sees increase of referrals and contacts

A charity helping victims of domestic abuse on the Isle of Man says it's seen a 'significant' increase in reports since lockdown ended.

Victim Support has had 85 referrals and 628 contacts between May & July, relating to both sexual violence and domestic abuse.

That's up from 58 and 490, when compared to the same time last year.

The charity took to Twitter to share the recent statistics.

Charity manager Paula Gelling says it's been a demanding period for staff, and fundraising efforts are needed more than ever:

Victim Support can be contacted on 679950, or via enquiries@victimsupport.im
