Six hybrid buses have been ordered by the Department of Infrastructure.

The new vehicles are due to arrive on the Island in time for the start of the new school year in September.

The need to invest in more environmentally-friendly public transport was identified in the government action plan for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

A report on the plan's progress is due to be submitted at this month's sitting of Tynwald.
