Department of Infrastructure shares insight into recent repairs
The Department of Infrastructure has replaced a section of drainage pipe underneath the Mountain Road after a 'small sink hole' appeared last week.
The road was closed on Friday morning for emergency repairs, with the old stone culvert and clay pipe drainage system close to Guthrie's Memorial having completely collapsed.
The system was replaced and the road reopened on Sunday afternoon.
The DOI says there are more than 130 culverts along every 10 to 20 metres of the Mountain Mile, where the sinkhole appeared, many of which are still of the old stone variety.
