Smoke alarm warning repeated after kitchen fire

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is again stressing the importance of fitting smoke alarms and testing them weekly, after a blaze in Stanley View, Douglas today.

Three crews were sent to the terrace, on Ballaquayle Road, just after 10.20am.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and put out the flames, using a hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher.

A microwave oven and toaster were destroyed but the fire was confined to the kitchen area with smoke damage to the top floor of the building.

It's understood there were no injuries.
