Snow and ice bring slippery conditions to Island roads

Motorists advised to take extra care on morning commute

Police are warning motorists to take extra care on Island roads this morning (Wed 23 Jan) following wintry showers and freezing conditions.

The mountain road remains open currently, though conditions are said to be very slippery in many places, however the Tholt-Y-Will Road from Sulby Crossroads to the Bungalow is CLOSED because of sheet-ice. The Hope St Johns is reported as very icy and there are reports of vehicles getting stuck on ice.

The Ballamodha Straight was closed around 7.20am due to snow and ice.

Roads are very slippery around south quay and Station Hill where there was an accident after a car slid into a wall earlier.

IOM Transport says the Bus Service 4 is suspended due to the road closure between Foxdale and the Hope, buses are unable to serve the Main Road in Foxdale and Lower Foxdale. Other bus services are currently operating to schedule.

All the Island's schools are open as normal.
