
The Island's capital will soon have 25 solar-powered bins which could also work as wifi hotspots.
The devices which compress waste are to be leased from a UK company for more than £27,000.
Leader of Douglas Council David Christian says the compression allows the bins to need 80% less emptying so overall the council will make savings.
