Solway Harvester remembered 20 years on

Wreath to laid at Douglas Head memorial

A service to commemorate the seven people who lost their lives in the Irish Sea 20 years ago today will take place at 11am.

The scallop dredger, the Solway Harvester, sank off the coast of the Isle of Man in heavy storms in 2000, leaving no survivors.

Today, dignitaries are attending the memorial on Douglas Head to pay their respects.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle will lay a wreath and members of the Island's fishing community, RNLI, Coastguard, Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and Douglas Council will attend.

Zoe Cannell is the Manx Bard and has written a poem, which she'll be reading at the service:
