Minutes' silence for 50 casualties
Those who died in the Summerland tragedy were remembered last night, on its 43rd anniversary (Tue).
50 were killed, and many more injured or traumatised, when a huge blaze struck the leisure complex on 2 August, 1973.
A crowd observed a minute's silence opposite the former site on Queens Promenade yesterday evening - after which the names of the deceased were read out.
Organiser Tina Brennen reflected on a sombre ceremony:
Steam Packet praises passengers and crew following 'significantly rougher' than normal crossing
MiCard alternatives 'must be better than what we already have'
Last chance for central residents to respond to 20mph consultation
