Cretney calls for 'sensible compromise'
A Member of the Legislative Council has called for 'sensible compromise' over proposed changes to government departments.
Speaking ahead of today's Tynwald debate on the Lisvane report, David Cretney says some branches need more political members than others to fulfil operations effectively.
The report contains eleven recommendations designed to improve the function of the Manx parliament, one of which is limiting the memberships to one MHK per department.
Mr Cretney says in some cases, this wouldn't work:
First cruise call of the season leaves Isle of Man without stopping

Minister confirms immigration healthcare surcharge has been delayed
Old Police Station in Castletown to be sold by Manx National Heritage
