Kitching's family gives him a second chance
The son of Gwen Valentine has praised the family of the man who killed her.
Donovan Kitching from St John’s was jailed for 10 years for causing her death by dangerous driving in April 2014.
He’d been released on parole weeks earlier and this week a report highlighted a lack of ‘coordination’ and ‘confusion’ between the prison, parole board and Island police.
Kitching had no new formal risk assessment after serving four years in prison for aggravated burglary.
Despite the tragedy, Stuart Valentine was pleased Kitching’s family gave him a second chance once he was released.
