Southern Area plan inquiry to start

The long-awaited public inquiry into the Southern area plan will start this morning (Monday).

Considered a blueprint for future development and land protection in the south of the Island, inspector David Hollis will hear evidence in Morton Hall in Castletown from 9.30am.

Representatives from Manx National Heritage and developer Hartford Homes are among those due to give evidence today, as well as a number of individuals.

A new strategic plan for the whole of the south will eventually be drawn up.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne admits its an urgent issue.
