SPC hits out at MHKs for asking 'excessive' amount of Manxman related questions

Managing director says they're 'not particularly helpful'

The Steam Packet has hit out at politicians for asking an 'excessive' number of Tynwald questions regarding the Manxman.

The chair of the organisation has admitted the public's perception of the vessel is that it's 'unreliable' but says the board was expecting more issues to have arisen than did.

The ferry operator is an 'arm's length' organisation which is owned by government allowing it to operate independently of political influence.

When an answer to a Tynwald question is prepared the Steam Packet is expected to contribute towards writing an answer for the political representative to deliver.

However managing director Brian Thomson believes that can 'take them away from their day job' and thinks there's a lack of understanding about what 'arm's length' actually means:
