Spending on premium agency staff more than halved, says Manx Care CEO

Increase in headcount attributed to investment in front line services

The chief executive of Manx Care says the amount the health body was spending on 'premium agency staff' has more than halved in recent years.

Teresa Cope says the service started with a 'very high vacancy rate' in 2021, with a reliance on costly short-term agency workers 

In government's latest quarterly workforce report, Manx Care accounted for the largest increase in headcount; something attributed to continued investment in front-line health services.
