St Ninian's pays tribute to teacher

A Douglas high school has paid tribute to one of its teachers who died at the weekend.

31 year old Rob Campbell taught PE at St Ninian’s after joining the school in 2007.

He died after a collision with a coach on Richmond Hill in Braddan at around 1.10am on Saturday morning.

Today, headteacher Andy Fox released a statement expressing shock at the popular teacher’s death.

Mr Fox described Rob as a very popular member of staff who always had a glint in his eye as he saw the opportunity for a joke or sharing a smile or a laugh with a colleague.

He says the 31 year old had a positive nature and will be very fondly remembered as a really nice person.

Mr Fox also praised his teaching style, saying he was very positive with students and had high expectations of his students’ potential which he his best to help unleash.

The school has contacted CRUSE bereavement counsellors, and counselling will be offered before the start of the new term.
