Ribbon cut on major investment at plant

Isle of Man Creamery's newly-installed carton filling system has been opened by showbiz couple Katie Melua and James Toseland.

The £800,000 production line, commissioned from Italian manufacturer Galdi, is the only one of its kind in the British Isles. 

Up and running since May, Creamery bosses say the line has improved speed, efficiency and hygiene standards in the process.

Katie and James, patrons of Manx Cancer Help, flew in for this morning's official opening at the Tromode plant. 

For the next year, Creamery's 950 ml milk cartons will promote the charity's work, offering psychological help to cancer sufferers and those affected by the disease.

Katie says having their message on such widely-seen packaging will be a major boost for the charity:
