Opportunity for Island residents only
The Steam Packet Company has, for the first time, opened applications for two local deck rating apprentices.
The new apprenticeships are open to Isle of Man residents only.
They’ll provide the successful applicants with comprehensive training leading to professional qualifications and practical experience.
A deck rating apprentice is a trainee position where individuals learn the fundamental duties necessary for the safe and efficient operation of a vessel.
Human Resources Manager Ethel Docherty said: "We are excited to open these positions and support local talent interested in embarking in a successful career at sea.
"The course equips apprentices with all the necessary skills and certifications, and we are proud to foster the next generation of maritime professionals and ensure they have the support and resources needed to thrive in this dynamic industry."
The apprenticeships will begin in September and take up to two and a half years to complete.
The Steam Packet has thanked RMT Union and Isle of Man Maritime for their assistance in setting up the scheme.
