Stolen RNLI money returned

The Port St Mary lifeboat volunteer whose RNLI collection was stolen says he has no hard feelings towards the thief, after the money was returned.

An envelope containing £600 was taken from an unlocked van in the village on Monday. But the cash was returned anonymously at the weekend - in the same envelope.

Seconde coxswain Michel Kneale had asked family and friends to make a donation to the RNLI in lieu of presents for his 60th birthday.

The fund is now much bigger than before the theft, after guests upset at the loss made a second donation.

And Castletown-based data firm Domicilium also made a donation to help replace the stolen money, which the RNLI can keep.
