Some sailings have been cancelled

Police are advising motorists with high sided vehicles not to use the mountain road at this time due to the high winds.

The mountain road remains open however conditions are difficult and all drivers are asked to drive to those conditions.

Meanwhile some sailings have been cancelled today due to the forecast adverse weather.

The Steam Packet Company has called off the Douglas to Heysham 8.45am sailing as well as its return at 3pm - tonight's sailing to Heysham is still going ahead.

It's due to the amber weather warning that's currently in place for heavy rain, severe gales and coastal overtopping.

Forecasters at Ronaldsway Met Office say gusts likely reaching 60-70mph, possibly 80mph may lead to some travel disruption.

Stephanie Clayton says the effects of Storm Debi have reached the Island and it will be 'getting a bit worse before it gets better':

Meanwhile Access to Bride Road is closed due to flooding.

Highway Services says pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained during the period of closure.

The Eastern Civic Amenity Site in Douglas and the Southern Recycling Centre in Port St Mary is also closed due to the high winds.
