
Anything less than a nine per cent rate rise in Onchan would have had serious consequences.
That’s according to an Onchan commissioner after the local authority announced the hike, which comes into effect from April 1.
Last year Brian Stowell warned rate hikes were on the way, and while he is aware of the hardship the increase will cause some ratepayers, he says there was little alternative:
