The Communication Workers Union says it was forced to ballot for strike action at Manx Telecom because the company wouldn’t listen to its arguments.
MT offered workers a 4.1 per cent pay rise this year, well below the current rate of inflation which stands at 6.5 per cent.
But after protracted negotiations, the union balloted workers over industrial action – and more than 80 per cent of staff voted for a strike.
The walkout could come as soon as the end of next week, and the CWU’s lead negotiator Grace Mitchell says the issue is a simple one.
