Health bosses are challenging local smokers to ditch the fags for a whole month as of today.
The Stoptober initiative has inspired millions of people across the British Isles to give up since its launch five years ago.
New minimum prices introduced this year have pushed the cost of a 20-a-day habit to more than £250 a month.
