Students talk live to astronaut in space!

History was made in the lecture theatre at the Manx Museum recently.

A lucky group of pupils from the Island's secondary schools enjoyed a live video link to astronaut Nicole Stott on the International Space Station.

It's the first time such a feat has been achieved on the Island.

Nicole, who is married to Manxman Chris Stott, the president and chief executive of ManSat, was wearing an Ellan Vannin T-shirt and floating around in front of a Manx flag.

She is on board the station for a three month stint, and has already carried out a space walk.

A competition had been held to find questions for pupils to ask Nicole and the winners received the prize of putting them to her live on the video link.

Public Services Manager for Manx National Heritage, and member of the Isle of Man Astronomical Society, Howard Parkin helped set up the link and chaired the event.

He says it was an incredible experience for the students and the adults who were present:
