Subaru demonstration laps cancelled

Demonstration laps of the TT course organsied for visiting journalists before Friday's Senior race have been cancelled.

The decision has been made by race organisers and suppliers of Subaru cars loaned for the media tours, after the driver of one of the vehicles crashed into air barriers at Sulby bridge yesterday (June 5).

Three Subaru cars were on a speed-controlled lap of the mountain course when the incident happened shortly before the scheduled start of the second sidecar race, which had to be put back by 15 minutes.

The car was extensively damaged but no one was seriously injured.

Official course inspection cars supplied by Corkills Motor Group carrying guests on VIP Platinum hospitality packages, had led the convoy.

The course cars will carry out their pre-race road inspections as normal before the start of Friday's Lightweight TT due off at 10.15am.

Organisers say none of the journalists due on the Subaru demonstration laps tomorrow will leave the Island disappointed, as they'll be offered alternative tours of the TT circuit.
