Success for local students in worldwide competition

A group of students from Queen Elizabeth II High School in Peel have come second in a worldwide environmental competition.

The team's project, called 'tREe CYCLE' was runner up in the Volvo Adventure International finals, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

A total of 373 projects were submitted from schools around the world, with the ten finalists enjoying an all expenses paid trip to Sweden.

The team of Rebecca Fong, Sarah Baker, Clare Fisher, Georgia Corlett and Eleanor Jones have won $6,000 which will enable them to continue their environmental work.

Unfortunately the group couldn't make it over for the final presentations because of GCSE exams, and had to nominate a party of fellow QEII students to represent them.
