Summerland fire to feature in Grenfell documentary

1973 tragedy links to west London tower block blaze

The Summerland fire which claimed the lives of 50 people will feature on a documentary about Grenfell Tower this evening.

Seventy-two people died in the West London tower block after a blaze broke out on 14 June last year.

Called 'The Fires that Foretold Grenfell', the programme will explore similar tragedies and the lessons not learned from history.

The 1973 fire at the Douglas leisure centre is one of the historic events to be included in the documentary, which airs at 9pm this evening on BBC Two.
