The vice-chairman of the Friends of Ramsey's Queen's Pier says he is pleased work will be finally carried out on the Victorian structure, but he believes it could have happened years ago at a much cheaper cost.
Tywnald will next week be asked to spend £1.7 million on a project to stabilise the pier, with the hope it can be fully restored in a healthier financial climate.
