Sunday is becoming less special - claim

A Methodist preacher says the Isle of Man is moving away from the principle of keeping Sunday a holy day, set aside for worship.

Peter Murcott was in the House of Keys for the second reading of the Road Races Amendment Bill which would allow cycle racing on the sabbath during the Commonwealth Youth Games on the Island in September.

Concerns have been raised by churches that the scope of the bill is too wide and could see such events being held on any road on any Sunday in the year.

Mr Murcott says the Island is moving away from the notion of keeping Sunday a special day (play audio file):

The bill received unanimous support at the second reading, earlier this week.
