Weather relents - for a day at least
After weather problems all practice week, racing got away on time for the first race of TT 2017.
The six lap Superbike event blasted off from the grandstand at 2pm.
There was early drama with both Guy Martin coming off at Doran's Bend and Michael Dunlop out of the race in the first couple of laps.
Both riders were uninjured.
The race will be followed by one-lap practice sessions for both the sidecars and TT Zero machines.
If everything goes according to schedule, roads will open from 5.30 this evening with the exception of the mountain section - with the whole course open again no later than 6.30.
All times are subject to weather and any incidents which may delay the day's racing.
