Support for bus drivers in strike threat?

While unions say they hope to avoid industrial action on the buses next week, there seems to be public support for the drivers.

Drivers who are members of Unite are due to stage a 48 hour walkout starting on Tynwald Day in a row over working conditions with the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure.

Despite their annual wage of around £36,000 a year, bus drivers had the backing of these passengers at the Lord Street bus stops in Douglas.
