A former Liberal Vannin member says he understands Zac Hall's current dispute with the party.
Mr Hall this week delivered a stinging rebuke to the leadership over his suspension from the party in the row over pre schools.
He attacked what he sees as a lack of democracy within Lib Van, accusing leaders of 'Stalinist' tactics in policy and decision-making.
Bill Malarkey was elected for South Douglas in 2006 on a Lib Van ticket, but left the party 18 months later, disillusioned at not being allowed to serve in government.
He was defeated at the last general election, but is now back in politics after gaining a seat on Douglas Council last week.
Manx Radio has asked party leader Peter Karran and Chairman Roy Redmayne for a response - to Zac Hall's open letter and Bill Malarkey's comments.
They have refused to comment on either subject.
