Charmaine and David De'ath recall events of 4 August 1991
A South African couple is hoping to raise funds to contribute to a piece of equipment for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
On 4 August 1991, Charmaine and David De'ath were on a Greek cruise ship, MTS Oceanos, just off the Wildcoast in South Africa when it began to sink.
This Sunday (3 August), a day before the anniversary, they plan to share their story of how they were rescued by civilians and the South African Navy at Douglas Yacht Club.
"... the other comforting thing for me was looking out on the sea, and other ships were coming and stayed around us, so we... at least you got company" - David De'ath
The duo are hoping to raise between £600-£900 for the RNLI as they believe services like this helps during emergencies to save lives.
They share some of their journey with Chanelle Sukhoo:
The event on Sunday gets underway at 7pm.
