Suspicious death inquiry - one man released

One of the two men arrested by police in connection with a suspicious death in Douglas yesterday (Saturday) morning has been released without charge.

It was confirmed late last night that he was no longer being held, but the other man remained in police custody.

Police also said the roads at Hillside Avenue and Wesley Terrace, which were cordoned off while investigations continued through the day, had been reopened to traffic.

They thanked residents in the two areas for their help and understanding, during what they called 'a very difficult time'.

Meanwhile, a Home Office pathologist is due on the Island to carry out a post mortem on the middle aged man, whose body was found in Hillside Avenue around 6am.

Anybody who saw or heard a disturbance in Wesley Terrace at around that time is being urged to ring Police Headquarters on 631212, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
