Island in vanguard in 1881
A talk on the unique position the Island holds with regard to its stance on votes for women will take place next week.
In 1881 the Isle of Man became the first nation in the world to grant women the vote in a general election.
Next Wednesday's talk in the history and heritage lecture series will be given by Dr Mike Hoy.
Programme Leader for History and Heritage at UCM, Catriona Mackie, says the pioneering move came about following an important visit to the Island
Dr Hoy's talk is at 6pm in the main Hall at the Homefield Campus on Wednesday 13th December.
