Tax return deadlines pushed back

Later dates for income tax retun submissions

A number of tax return deadlines have been pushed back due to the ongoing lockdown.

Individual tax returns for the year ending 5 April 2020, initially due to be submitted before 6 April, can now be handed in no later than 5 May.

Anyone submitting their individual tax return after that deadline will face a penalty of £200.

First penalties will not be issued for  any company tax returns still outstanding and due to be submitted between 22 March 2021 and 4 May 2021.

In order to prevent the issue of a first penalty, the date for these returns is extended to 5 May.

Meanwhile, second penalties will not currently be issued for late submission of any company tax returns still outstanding (that would be liable to the second penalty) between 22 March 2021 and 4 May 2021.

These returns must be submitted no later than 5 May 2021.

Retirement Pension forecasting requests meanwhile have been suspended until further notice.

Counter services are currently closed due to lockdown but the Income Tax Division can be contacted on 685400 or email via incometax@itd.treasury.gov
