Teaching union suspends industrial action following DESC talks

NAHT and education bosses to discuss pay and conditions in coming weeks

Industrial action between the Department of Education, Sport and Culture and the National Association of Headteachers has been suspended.

The two parties have been in dispute over teachers' pay in recent months, resulting in 95% of the union's Manx members voting in support of industrial action.

Officials from the NAHT met with Education, Sport and Culture Minister Graham Cregeen, and have now agreed to put action on hold to allow for further talks in the coming weeks.

A 10-point plan has been agreed, which includes discussing future pay and conditions, as well as reconvening a joint union forum to look at the upcoming Education Bill.
