Pulrose man to pay £750 fine plus £125 prosecution costs
A teenager has been fined £750 after admitting possessing almost £1,000 of cocaine.
Daniel Shane Philip Friel, of Heather Crescent in Pulrose, pleaded guilty to having 6.3g of the drug and a small quantity of cannabis.
The court heard he'd been involved in a collision on Ballaquayle Road, on 21 October last year, and when police arrived they noticed he was of a nervous disposition.
Having spotted him throw something into a nearby hedgerow officers recovered two wraps of cocaine, estimated to be worth £960.
A further search at Police Headquarters found a small amount of cannabis worth £14 hidden in his sock.
His advocate told magistrates the 18-year-old was mortified to be in court and the incident had given him 'the fright of his life'.
Magistrates said it was quite concerning that someone of Friel's age would be driving around with so much cocaine.
In addition to the fine, he'll have to pay a further £125 in prosecution costs.
No penalty was imposed for the cannabis charge.
