Tell us about planned burns asks fire service

Crews called out to controlled burn at weekend

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people who burn off vegetation to tell the Emergency Services Joint Control Room.

It's after crews were called to a report of a large grass fire in Crosby on Sunday, only to discover it was a controlled, planned burn.

They did extinguish the fire because of concerns it may spread to a nearby hedge.

Station Officer David Dallimore asks people to ring the ESJCR on 697327 before holding burns, consider their location and not leave them unattended.
