Solution identified following outcry from local researchers
Manx National Heritage says it's found a 'temporary fix' which will allow online access to its digital newspaper archives to continue.
The service was due to cease earlier this week, with the organisation saying the aging infrastructure and supporting software had reached the end of its life.
The prospect of losing online access to the 150 years' worth of archives prompted outcry from researchers and local historians on the Island.

Following tests on Monday (12 October), Manx National Heritage shared an update to confirm that access to the platform would not be ceasing as planned.
In a statement, the organisation said: "This means users can continue to search and view the archive while plans are further developed for a secure, sustainable long-term service over the coming months.
"The level of public interest in the archive has been extraordinary. We have received countless messages from researchers, family historians and supporters both on and off the Island, highlighting the importance of this resource.
"We are extremely grateful to everyone who has offered support, assistance and encouragement, and we appreciate the patience shown while we continue to work to secure the archive’s future."
Speaking to Manx Radio, MNH's Head of Collections Kirsty Neate says: "The work doesn't stop for us. Yes, we've got an interim fix which enables the service to continue. In the meantime, we are continuing to seek a more sort of long-term stable solution."
She explains what the reaction has been like to this latest update:
While the exact technical details of the temporary fix haven't been shared, it's hoped a permanent solution will be implemented by spring next year.
