Tesco determined to support more local businesses

Says gov't support means we'll see more Manx produce on shelves

Tesco says it's determined to support local businesses here on the Island.

It's bought all nine Shoprite stores and is hoping to have converted them all into Tesco ones by August.

The first rebranded shop is opening in Castletown on Thursday (15 February).

Concerns have been raised about how difficult it's been historically for Manx producers and manufacturers to get their products sold by the supermarket chain.

But Store Director Andy Sanderson says, thanks to government support, they're hoping to stock more local suppliers:
