'There will be more deaths, and we need to be ready for that'

Chief minister speaks after first Manx fatality

The chief minister has warned there will be more deaths from Covid-19 on the Isle of Man.

Howard Quayle addressed the nation just after six o'clock last night, to inform us of the first loss of life here as a result of the virus:

The patient had underlying health conditions and died at Noble's hospital.

A further seven cases of coronavirus were confirmed on the Isle of Man this morning.

That means 75 people have now tested positive for the illness here, with two currently being treated in hospital.

A total of 1,077 tests have been concluded with 166 people still waiting for results, and a further 160 awaiting tests.
