Third day of murder trial

The murder trial of a Castletown man continues at Douglas Courthouse this morning. (WEDS)

Forty-six-year-old Ian Anderson denies murdering 60-year-old Neil Roberts from Ballabeg in 2013.

Mr Roberts's body was found by police at Mr Anderson's home in Queen Street, Castletown, in late 2013.

Yesterday jurors watched CCTV footage of Mr Anderson and Mr Roberts together on the night of the incident at the Bay Hotel in Port Erin.

It appeared to show Mr Roberts acting affectionately and the two are seen hugging at the bar and leaving together.

Jurors also heard the 999 call made by Ian Anderson later that night.

In the recording he said he had been attacked in his own house, adding it was not an emergency, but said they did need an ambulance.

Mrs Anderson is heard in the background.

The prosecution also called its first witness, PC Mark Langley, who was first on the scene and was joined by PC Andrew Tomlinson shortly afterwards.

PC Langley performed emergency CPR and told PC Tomlinson to arrest Ian Anderson.

The trial continues this morning at 10 o'clock, when PC Tomlinson is scheduled to appear as the second live witness.
