Three Manx residents recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours List

Two MBE's and a British Empire Medal awarded between trio

Three Manx residents have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for 2022.

Pamela Crowe is to receive an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to the Rushen Heritage Trust and fundraising in the community.

Mrs Crowe joined the trust in 2014, undertaking research into women and family internees during World War Two at the Rushen Internment Camp.

She has also promoted exhibitions, articles and raised funds for the development of the Rushen Heritage Centre.

Meanwhile, Frank Horne will also be receiving an MBE for services the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Safety at Sea.

Mr Horne joined the National Lifeboat Institution Fishing Safety Team in 2008 due to his extensive maritime knowledge and fishing experience.

Between 1990 and 2019, as a volunteer crew member and Coxswain for Peel Lifeboat, he received multiple commendations  for saving casualties and vessels.

Elsewhere, Chair of Manx Charity, Craig's Heartstrong Foundation, Paul Healey, is being recognised with a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to the Island through charity fundraising.

The foundation was set up by the Lunt family in memory of their 25-year-old son, Craig, who died in April 2005 due to a previously undiagnosed heart defect.

Mr Healey, a close friend of Craig, has raised funds and worked within the community for the foundation, which has resulted in defibrillators being extensively and freely available across the Isle of Man and he has enabled more than £1million to be raised for the organisation.
