Tim Baker to be new Manx Utilities chair

Tynwald to vote on appointment this month

It's expected Tim Baker MHK will be made the new chair of Manx Utilities.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle will ask his colleagues in parliament to approve the appointment at this month's routine sitting of Tynwald, on Tuesday, 19 May.

The post will be vacated by Dr Alex Allinson, who was appointed as education minister following a mini reshuffle earlier this year.

The new role will add to an already-lengthy list of duties for Mr Baker, whose current responsibilities include memberships of two departments, children's champion, and chairing both the planning committee and Isle of Man Meats.

Mr Baker says he's going to have to give one of them up:

MU's new vice-chair is set to be Tynwald newbie Peter Greenhill MLC - a post that is already vacant after Tim Crookall stepped down as another member of the Legislative Council, with a view to running for Keys next year instead.
