Tynwald asked to approve appointment later this month
Glenfaba and Peel MHK Tim Crookall will take over as chairman at Manx Utilities.
Chief Minister Alf Cannan will ask Tynwald to confirm the appointment later this month.
He'll replace Tim Johnston, who recently took up the role of enterprise minister.
Mr Crookall previously acted as enterprise and infrastructure ministers during this administration, before resigning from the Council of Ministers last summer.
