Timetable of financial support to help combat rising energy prices released

Dates for £300 boost released by Treasury

People who are in receipt of benefits will start receiving extra financial support later this month to help with a cost of living crisis.

Treasury has revealed the timetable for its £300 Energy Support Payment – it's been brought in following a hike in gas bills.

The payment will be rolled out first to people receiving Jobseeker's Allowance between 21 and 28 April.

Those receiving Income Support and Employed Person's Allowance will receive the extra money between 28 April and 12 May.

Minister David Ashford said: "I hope the information being released today will provide some reassurance to people regarding when they can expect to receive these payments which I know will make a difference to those struggling to meet the rising cost of living in particular food and fuel costs.

"Wherever possible the payments have been added to existing payment schedules and will be paid alongside the usual benefit due to be paid to an individual that week.

"The exact timetable for Family Support Payments will be confirmed as soon as it is finalised."
